These are two little girls that I befriended in the market. They helped me with my Khmer and I bought them rice and cokes. They love Coca Cola! I learned a lot about Khmer culture from these little ones.  Posted by Picasa

and this is the sweet SoKang!

The following weekend I went back to the beach with all 26 students from the Bible College where I taught English last year. These students are so much fun. The last night of our trip, we had a special service for the students to reminisce about last three years of their times at the Bible College and to say goodbye to each other and their teachers. The same day that I left Cambodia to come back to the USA (July 12, 2006), these students left the safety of the Bible school and went to various provinces all over Cambodia to begin working with local churches. They are future Bible teachers, Pastors and evangelists. This is the last year of their training, the year they begin their field ministry. They are full of love and joy and they offer the hope of Christ to a country in desperate need of healing.  Posted by Picasa

This is my former English student, Srey Roath. I'm really going to miss her and many others. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend one last weekend with them all before they were commissioned out to different provinces to begin their feild ministry. Posted by Picasa

This is my favorite story!
One day a man named Zach was looking online for missions opportunities and graduate schools to figure out where it was that God was guiding him. As fate would have it, one mission organization led him to a lovely girl's blog! "Who is that?" He said to himself. As he read about the girl and all of her adventures, he knew he had to contact her. Her heart reminded him of his own. That same day, he unknowingly found her graduate school. He looked through several programs and then it clicked, "Hmmm," he thought, "is it possible that Noelle attends this school?" He did a student search and found her email address. He boldly contacted Noelle, expressing his interest in her passion for missions, love for God and desire to serve the poor. He was stunned at how similar they were. "She's a girl version of me!" he thought. Noelle was a little shocked when she received his email, yet something very genuine shined through his words. Before writing him back, Noelle did a little research of her own. She googled Zach and found all kinds of interesting information about him, "He sounds like a guy version of me!" she thought. They began to email each other. A month later Zach visited her campus. He was already very interested in attending this school, but meeting Noelle would be an extra incentive. As it turned out, the school was a great match for him.......and so was Noelle! The rest is history! They've now been dating for four months and Zach will be attending her school in the fall to obtain a Master's degree in Intercultural Studies. The picture is of the "cute couple" over spring break.
Zach came down to visit my family! They all love him!

I had an opportunity to go to Australia to visit my friend Belinda (pictured above) and also see the wedding of two of my dear friends. Australia is gorgeous country and the people are so friendly. We spent several days in the mountains and some time in the city of Melbourne. It was so nice to have a change of scenary. However, I think I prefer Cambodia's heat to Australia's cold since my body has adjusted to spending most days in 100 degree temperatures without air conditioning.  Posted by Picasa

The girls wanted to take me for a ride on a cyclo downtown. I had never ridden one before. I felt so sorry for the man that had to cycle us around the city.  Posted by Picasa

I took my Level 3 English students out for a night at the fair. They wanted to play pool and go rollerskating, so that's what we did. These girls are great! I will miss teaching them. Posted by Picasa
